CASE STUDY

Our First Chapter: Back-to-School Ebamut Village

August 27, 2026 – Government School Ebamut, Bangem Sub-Division, Kupe-Muanenguba Division, Southwest Region, Cameroon

In the communities of the Kupe-Muanenguba Division, the beginning of each academic year presents an impossible choice for many families. With economic hardship compounded by regional instability, the cost of school supplies, tuition, and uniforms is beyond what most low-income households can absorb. For orphans and children from single-parent households, the barrier is even more acute – and without direct intervention, many students simply do not start the year.

On August 27, 2026, DEHFOPAD deployed its first humanitarian campaign in Ebamut village, working directly with Government School Ebamut and community leaders to identify the students most at risk. Our team distributed comprehensive back-to-school kits to over 150 students – each kit containing textbooks, exercise books, notebooks, writing materials, a school bag, and a uniform. Full tuition and registration fees were covered for 30+ orphans and vulnerable children, ensuring they could walk through the school doors on the first day alongside their peers.

The campaign reached 250+ individuals directly – students, family members, and educators – spanning multiple villages in the sub-division. Over 50 low-income families were relieved of educational costs they could not have borne alone. More than 10 teachers and school administrators received supplementary materials and support, strengthening the classroom environment for the full academic year ahead.

“For many of these families, this was the difference between their children starting the 2026/2027 academic year on time – and not starting at all.”
